Plastic Election Poster Free Zone

Initiated 2019

Meath County Council declared a Climate Emergency in 2019. We took the opportunity to write to all Navan County Council candidates asking them to protect the environment by not hanging plastic election posters in Johnstown.

We declared Johnstown as a plastic election poster-free zone.

Following its success, we repeated the initiative in 2020 for the Meath West General Election.

We estimate over 100 plastic posters have been avoided in Johnstown. The same action will apply for the next Council elections in 2024, followed shortly after by the Irish general election in 2025.
